A mother's tales

I'm a mother, student, daughter..who is trying to remember the little things in life that influence me. I like to shop with my mom and sisters, dance with Ava, and am always searching for the perfect pair of heels. Ava, my little mamacita, is a huge inspiration and will likely take up most of my blogs. On a personal note, I like watching reality tv, am terrified of frogs and roaches, like Mexican food. My dream job would be being a writer for a soap opera.

Girl's night out

Last weekend, I drove to Charlotte to visit my girls on CM....It was definitely fun to see about 30 mommies piled into a festive Mexican restaurant. It was a good night and tons of fun...but one of the cutest things is when I got home about midnight, I climbed in bed with Ava. She woke up, hugged me and said "Did you have fun with your friends?" She's so cute. I said yes and we talked about our days...she's so sweet.

Sneaky girl

Ava is definitely a little sneaky thing...she manages to get a few things by William, but I'm usually pretty on top of her tricks...did I mention she's three!!! seriously. One example, She doesn't like raisins, but since they help keep her regular (too much info..sorry), I make her eat three every day....I know, bad Mommy! Anyways...sometimes she eats them no problem, and sometimes she makes such a big deal about it. So, a couple days ago, she was sitting at the table and had her three raisins infront of her. She was acting like they were the size of golf balls and making a big deal about it...so I was going to make sure to watch her eat them, since she is known to be a little sneaky sometimes. William was also in the kitchen..making some kind of Chinese dish (and when he cooks, he gets chatty...like he wants your full attention)...so he was asking me questions, and I was watching Ava like a hawk to make sure she ate her raisins...I turned my head for 5 seconds, turned around and she's making an over-dramatic chewing motion...a little exaggerative. I ask her where her raisins are and she says "They were yummy!"...so, she goes and plays. A minute later, I look on the floor, she dropped them while I was talking to william and pretended to eat them....needless to say, she had to come back and eat FOUR raisins...she is tricky!
William was in awe of her sense of manipulation at three years old, but I have to say, I'm a little worried....got my eye on her! She's so funny though

God's timing

Well, posts like these are never easy to write. A friend of mine died this past weekend in a boating accident. Eli Elliott was twenty six and engaged and adopting his fiance's baby. It's heartbreaking to hear of his untimely death. Our families are very close and my mom has pictures of me, my brother Aaron, and Eli all together when we were very little. He was only a year older than me, and I have clear memories of when our families got together, he would tease me and play with me just like my brother would. My heart breaks for his family and close friends right now as they are left with the questions of why God chose to bring Eli home. Please pray for his family, his parents John and Patti, brother, John, sister, Lizzie, and fiance, Jeneva. Please pray that God embraces them during their time of grief and encourages them to remember Eli's smile and spirit so they always hold it with them. There was another young man who died in this accident as well, please pray the same for his family.

Moving on...

Oh..so much to say..well, we moved into a HOUSE!!!! yay! So, my spring break was filled with unpacking and decorating. My sister and brother in law helped me paint the house, my mom, dad, brother and brother in law helped us move, and my sister in law helped me decorate...it's a big job, and I feel so blessed to have so much help doing it...and I love the house and the space....however, I forgot to get the gas transferred so we are currently without heat and hot water.....oops :) So, until Monday we will be boiling water for our baths and purchasing a portable heater....kinda funny, but anyways...I'm so glad it's March, I'm ready for warm weather, especially as I sit in my cold house all bundled up :)....and a side note, I don't know why I never got DVR before, but I will never be able to go back to normal cable...love it love it love it...isn't it always the little things that make life so sweet...recording your fav. show and fast forwarding through commercials, hot baths, and warm toes!!!!

Zumba anyone?

o'k...so one of the instructors at the YMCA here told me about a new class called Zumba which is a mix of hip hop, belly dancing, salsa, African....and it's really fun and you don't even know you're dancing....so I checked it out this morning...I'm so hooked. It was so fun!!!! What was really funny though is that there were like probably 50 people in the class and probably 20 were in their sixties (estimation)...which was awesome seeing these old ladies in their easy spirit shoes and cardigans getting down...but when the instructor asked if anyone had any song requests, the cute little older lady next to me who had her hair all curled and stuff asked if we could dance to "Ridin Dirty"....I couldn't help but laugh...the poor girl in front of me almost fell down laughing so hard, but grandma brought it!!!!!! It was awesome!
